As I was walking from the parking lot I came in step with a colleague I admire - his name is Larry.
He's an energetic, positive, and knowledgeable guy. I asked him if he was still lecturing and how things were going with things. Being the wonderful conversationalist and networker he is, he asked about me.
"Everything is the same, nothing new, it's all good," I replied.
Then he said, which I paraphrase, "Today is new, you've never lived this day before. Being the positive person you are I know you will do everything you can to seize the opportunity of the day."
Beaming, I replied, "You're right!" I am going to have a great day.
So, my gift to you is Larry's insight (thanks Larry), and the wish for you to seize the opportunity of today.
Best, Lorraine

Poor Leadership in our Congress
As most are aware there are fiscal issues surrounding our everyday lives, things that are outside of our (everyday citizens) control.
While driving to work this morning the ever-present threat of a government shutdown was headlining the news. While I am annoyed that our economy has eroded to the state it has, while at the same time spending Billions in aid, support, and military power to places in the Middle East; I was flabbergasted to hear that CONGRESS will still receive a paycheck if/when they furlough federal workers.
Talk about poor leadership! The first creed in being a good leader is never ask something of someone you would not do/perform yourself.
How unethical to play politics with other people's lives and finances when you aren't affected personally.
Congressional representatives should have the same issues on the line, maybe that would encourage them to act more responsibly.
